Planning, developing and then delivering a Dance Enabled project for people with special educational needs, those on the spectrum of neuro diversity, those with complex and profound needs and those with physical and sensory impairments. |
Job Purpose
- This role requires you to develop and deliver a wide range of activities, mostly in dance, art and stage craft sessions for individuals with complex disabilities, sensory impairments, neurodiversity and associated learning difficulties. To promote development, generate interest and to stimulate the physical and mental well-being of individuals.
- Your role is to facilitate engagement in artistic practice for participants in dance.
- You to be great with people and also have a good understanding of contemporary arts practice. Working flexibly you will aid in the delivery of person centred programmes of creative work. This will include workshops, trips, performances, meetings, events with our participants, which includes training external companies with diversity, participatory practice and inclusion.
- You be responsible for creating and developing relationships with external partners including schools, community centres, hubs, local government, and other groups that support young people in their music journeys.
- Excellent Organisation Skills – to plan schemes of work and deliver them to people with disabilities.
- Experienced in building immersive, interactive, accessible portfolios for people with disabilities detailing individual progression and compatibility with Arts Awards evidencing.
- Experience of report writing and evaluations
- Experience of working towards Arts Awards qualifications (or similar)
- Experience or performance both small scale and large scale.
- Skilled in Stage Craft
- Previous work with young people in education settings and creating engaging activities and content.
- Previous experience of working with education partners, either in formal education settings, community groups or similar.
- Managing policies and procedures involving working with young people, particularly in regard to safeguarding
- to facilitate engagement from individuals.
- Arts facilitation: To be imaginative in the design, facilitation of a wide range of accessible workshops in drama, movement, contemporary and traditional dance, physical theatre and related performances
- To devise and produce accessible performances.
- Collaborate with other members of the Haqooq’s team on the development and delivery of a variety of projects/
- Support individuals to develop their skills and talents in the art forms explored and developed at Haqooq
- Deliver Arts Award’s qualifications
- Liaise and collaborate with arts facilitators
- Production of events including bookings, stage management, liaising with venues and artists, health and safety
- Collaborate with the team on the preparation and hosting of celebrations and other related events
- Play an active role in developing and maintaining Haqooq’s partnerships with various organisations
- General administration duties and record keeping
- Complete documentation as appropriate
- Support That’s Life project participants with their individual support needs and care when required and appropriate
- Support volunteers and students on placement
- Where applicable, support learners through individual and group work to achieve wider key skills, such as; ARTS & ASDAN award/certificates
- To be responsible for designing, developing, implementing and evaluating Arts and Crafts sessions for individuals with a physical and/or learning disability
- To ensure a safe and fun environment for individuals with a physical and/or learning disability to learn dance arts and crafts related skills
- To provide innovative art and craft opportunities and ensure that sessions are led by customer demand and interest
Location
- The role will have hybrid working. The role will involve working onsite at Schools, Colleges, and other sites where our beneficiaries reside. You will need to be flexible enough to work across the City
Skills and experience needed:
- Understanding of both Indian and Contemporary dance forms
- Understanding of how to teach in an accessible way to people with a range of disabilities.

- To regularly monitor the stock levels of supplies and replenish when required.
- To work with individuals in producing art and Dance for Haqooq Aspire for More
- To work in partnership with local councils, groups so that individuals accessing the Haqooq Aspire for More have an opportunity to show case their work in the community
- Maintain up to date knowledge of the provisions available to young people
- Maintain full and accurate records of activities using the relevant documents, in order to monitor, record and evaluate individual and group participation and success
- To contribute to the overall aims and targets of Haqooq Aspire for More
- To encompass a wide variety of activities using IT resources and assistive technology, including; Dance, Art and other multicultural artistic activities.
- To work as a member of Haqooq in a supportive, co-operative manner and provide support work as and when required without causing any negative impact on duties
- To be willing to undertake mandatory training and any other training relevant to the job
- At all times to work within the confines of the Haqooq’s confidentiality of information policy and protect information held on staff and users, both paper and electronic, exercising discretion, tact and diplomacy always complying with legislative requirements
- To undertake any other task that may be reasonably asked of you by Haqooq Aspire for More
- Regularly liaise with the Library and Information Service, Schools, Colleges and Hubs.
- To assess individual needs continuously and to participate in reviews as appropriate
- To assist in actively marketing Haqooq Aspire for More promoting a positive profile within the community
People/ Participants: You will work closely with individuals in both group or 1:2:1 contexts, facilitating engagement.
People/ Community: You will support community events as required, in support of participants and the wider staff team.
Commissioning/ Project Dev: Facilitate individuals/ groups to engage in commissioned programmes of work.
Session Delivery and Facilitation: You will facilitate delivery session in conjunction with staff within live and remote delivery sessions, which will include group and 1:2:1 sessions, remote working sessions, training, meetings and activities.
You will support all marketing and digital campaigns as required. Assisting in collection of copy, images and feedback.
Ops/Office: You will adhere to office procedures to ensure smooth running of the charity.
Digital: You will adhere to Haqooq’s A4M’s digital communications requirements, using the system to share, store and manage all data relating to your work and the smooth running of the charity.
Data Collection and Management: You will support impact and data collection as required by the charity. You will record participant progress and feedback relevant learning as required for evaluation.
Admin: You will undertake your own admin relating to your key areas of work. You will ensure that digital and paper files are managed and updated. You will keep your office calendar updated.
Health and Safety Compliance/ Policies/ Safeguarding: You will adhere to all policies and procedures. With reference to safeguarding and health and safety practices in group work and sessions as well as 1:2:1 working and always clear on reporting and recording of all incidents and apply charity policies.
To always represent the charity in an appropriate manner when dealing with partners, volunteers, suppliers, clients, customers and colleagues.
Work towards effective interpersonal communication at all levels and in particular at a team and individual level.
Undergo any necessary on-the-job training required to develop the skills and knowledge needed to be able to perform to the standard required.
